Many of San Diego’s beautiful beaches are accessible by MTS
San Diego – More than three million Southern Californians are expected to travel this Memorial Day Weekend, with many descending on San Diego’s parks and beaches. MTS has a number of promotions and beach service options for the holiday. Additionally, MTS buses and Trolleys will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, May 28 and passengers should plan accordingly.
Promotions/Beach Service:
Riding MTS to the Beach: San Diegans can shake off the ‘May Gray’ by spending the unofficial start of the summer at one of our many beaches accessible by MTS bus. Some of the routes with downtown and best beach access are:
Family Weekends! On Saturday and Sunday MTS will allow up to two children (age 12 and under) to ride free with a fare-paying adult (age 18 or older) on all MTS routes.
Friends Ride Free! On Memorial Day, MTS is will allow one friend (any age) to ride free with a paying passenger on any bus or Trolley.
Scheduling:
Coronado’s “Free Summer Shuttle” (Route 904, sponsored by the City of Coronado) will begin service on Friday, May 25 between Coronado City Hall and the Ferry Landing via Hotel del Coronado. The free shuttle runs from approximately 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. every 15 minutes seven days per week, with later evening service on Fridays and Saturdays.

Support Services
The MTS Information and Trip Planning call center will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day, while the MTS Transit Store, Compass Service Center and Customer Service call center will be closed.
