Back to School Student Fares!

It’s August and the days are slowly getting shorter and kids (and colleges!) are headed back to school. Lucky for students everywhere, this back to school season we’re pulling out all the stops to make transit more affordable!

In case you missed the big news – we’re lowering the price of our monthly Youth pass to just $23!! Youth ages 6-18 can pick up the new, cheaper fare at all our retail outlets with a student or government issued ID that shows their age. You can also pop in to the Transit Store to activate your fare on Compass Cloud. In addition to a lower monthly pass, Youth riders now have access to a reduced fare Day Pass at just $3/day. The reduced fare Day Pass is available on Compass Cloud (no pre-authorization required), as well as the Youth Compass Card.

For the older students among us – did you know that over 11,500 students pick up a semester pass each year? That doesn’t even include the U-Pass program at UC San Diego! Passes for the whole semester range from $148-181 (depending on your college), which can be as little as $1.10/day.  Check out what your school offers here.

As with all our reduced fares, remember to carry proof of eligibility to use the fare when riding. For Youth riders, this can be a school or other government issued ID that shows your age. For college students (except UC San Diego), the semester pass sticker must be adhered to your current, valid college photo ID.
