Big Bird gets to work for the LRV Maintenance team
After 30 years of heavy lifting - Big Red - the ever-reliable forklift for LRV Maintenance has been retired. Now Big Bird is taking over for Big Red. With a price tag of $100,000, she has a higher reach, a larger weight capacity and more automation for the operator. Big Bird also adds an eco-friendly element to our maintenance facility. While Bid Red ran on diesel fuel, Big Bird runs on a propane-powered small block Chevy V8. The LRV Maintenance Department uses Big Bird for moving heavy components, such as LRV truck assemblies. She was also just retrofitted with a coupler to tow LRVs around the yard for maintenance and repairs.
