Bus Operator Robert Dempsey Honored at MTS Board of Directors Meeting

Every so often the MTS Board takes the opportunity to recognize MTS employees that go above and beyond the call of duty. On Monday, December 5 at 1:30 p.m., such an occasion occurred.

MTS Bus Operator Robert Dempsey was driving on southbound on SR 163 freeway in a relief car near the Washington Street exit. Another car lost control and flipped multiple times, narrowly missing the relief car that Mr. Dempsey was driving. The car landed on its side. Mr. Dempsey acted quickly, stopping his car, and helping extract the victim from the car and render aid.

As Mr. Dempsey pulled victim away from the car, it erupted into flames.

This was an act of courage by an MTS Bus Operator and MTS Board Chair Harry Mathis and his colleagues took time at the Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, January 19, 2017 to personally thank Mr. Dempsey for his action
