Countywide Projects Up for Vote

In November, voters countywide will be asked whether they support a San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) ballot measure to invest in regional infrastructure projects. The mix of projects and programs to be funded by the proposed half-cent sales tax increase was prepared based on input from the public, resulting in a diverse plan that includes:

• $7.5 billion to build and operate transit 
• $4.3 billion for local infrastructure projects 
• $2.6 billion for highways, carpool/managed lanes and connectors 
• $2 billion for open space 
• $900 million to separate Trolley/rail tracks from vehicle traffic 
• $540 million for active transportation 
• $178 million for local arterial traffic light synchronization

Opera on Track 

This fall, MTS and the San Diego Opera will partner to bring you free, 30-minute performances of La Cenerentola (Cinderella) at or near select UC San Diego Blue Line, Orange Line and Green Line Trolley Stations. “Opera on Track” moves this centuries-old art form out of the theatre and into unusual venues accessible to the public.

Is Transit Working for You?

MTS is seeking feedback from San Diego County residents and workers to help determine how current routing and scheduling are meeting ridership demands. An online survey will be available September 6 – 23, and outreach events are scheduled for September 7 – 15 at Transit Centers around the region. Findings will be used in conjunction with market research on regional travel patterns and demand, and an extensive review of ridership, route and system performance data to determine and implement necessary changes to realign current transit services to meet market needs (implementation in mid-2017).
