San Diego plays host to two bowl games in back-to-back weeks this December. It’s not only the sporting events that come to town, however. The San Diego Bowl Games committee offers fun beyond the end zone too!
San Diego residents are likely familiar with the Port of San Diego Holiday Bowl Parade that takes over Downtown San Diego, as giant balloons, floats, marching bands and more draw 100,000 spectators to Harbor Drive. This year, the parade starts at 10 a.m. on December 27. Plan ahead and get there early, as the free street-side viewing fills up fast.
Before the BYU Cougars take on a leading Mountain West conference team in the Poinsettia Bowl on Wednesday, December 21, fans can enjoy WinterFest. This is a great family-friendly event complete with a snow hill, petting zoo, hot cocoa, crafts and more (admission included with game tickets). Then, on Tuesday, December 27, Holiday Bowl attendees can head to the Q early to join the National Funding Fanzone – complete with a craft beer garden, food trucks and interactive college football experience.
