San Diego – The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is adding extra service this weekend to accommodate large crowds expected at Petco Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. MTS is also activating the free mTicket app so fans can purchase and download Trolley tickets to their smartphones.
Fans should expect and plan for increased traffic and parking delays around Petco Park and are advised to travel early. Additionally, more than 500 parking spaces are lost in the ballpark district due to construction beginning on the Ballpark Village project (Park Blvd. and Imperial Ave.).
Fans avoid parking hassles, save money and provide convenience for getting to the game by taking the Trolley. MTS Trolley special service is as follows:
The free mTicket app is available in both the App Store and Google Play. Just search for mTicket and download. It allows passengers to purchase and store game day Trolley passes on their smartphones at any time prior to arriving at transit stations. Multiple mTickets can be purchased on one smart phone too, making it easy for families and friends traveling together. Passengers without a Compass Card can avoid the $2 purchase fee by using mTicket.
MTS operates 95 bus routes and three Trolley lines on 53 miles of double-tracked railway. Every weekday more than 300,000 passenger trips are taken on MTS bus and Trolley services. For more information on how you can use public transportation and save money, go to www.sdmts.com.
