MTS Transit Guide for 2023 San Diego Pride Parade & Festival and Morgan Wallen Concerts at Petco Park

San Diego – This upcoming weekend will be one of music and celebration in San Diego as the 2023 edition of the San Diego Pride Parade & Festival and country music star Morgan Wallen are expected to draw thousands in attendance. With multiple days of activity for both events, MTS encourages those attending to use transit to avoid long waits in traffic.

Getting to the San Diego Pride Parade & Festival - Saturday, July 15, 2023 - 10:00am - Sunday, July 16, 2023 - 9:00pm

With an estimated turnout of 300,000 throughout the weekend, the LGBTQ San Diego Pride Parade & Festival is one of the city’s biggest events and will have limited parking and road closures along the 1.5-mile parade route. For this reason, MTS is the smart ride to Pride.

Bus Routes to access the San Diego Pride Parade:

• Route 7 and Rapid 215 feature direct service to University Ave. & Park Boulevard to catch the Parade. The Parade begins on University Ave., three blocks west of Park Boulevard at Normal Street.
• Take Bus Route 7 to Park Boulevard at Presidents Way to the free Pride Shuttle service.
• Take Rapid 215 to Park Boulevard at Naval Hospital (northbound) Park Boulevard at Inspiration Point Way (southbound), walking two blocks south to connect with the shuttle at Presidents Way.

Bus Routes to access the San Diego Pride Festival:

• Use Route 3 or Route 120 to 4th Ave. & Laurel St. or Fifth Ave. & Laurel St. and walk two blocks east on Laurel St. to the festival in Balboa Park.

Detours:

MTS will have a series of detours for regularly scheduled routes due to the parade route passing through a number of bus stops. Riders are encouraged to consult the Alerts & Detours page for any changes related to bus stops along the parade route.

• Routes 1, 3, 10, 11 & 120 will be detoured on Saturday, July 15, 2023 6:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
•  Bus stops on University Ave. between 1st Ave. and Park Blvd. in both directions will temporarily be discontinued, including the Route 120 bus stop on 5th Ave. at University Ave. 

Getting to Morgan Wallen Concert at Petco Park - Friday, July 14, 2023- 5:30 p.m. & Saturday, July 15, 2023- 5:30 p.m.

Country music superstar Morgan Wallen will be bringing his highly anticipated tour, One Night at a Time, to San Diego for two sold out nights at Petco Park. All three MTS Trolley lines (UC San Diego Blue Line, Green Line and Orange Line) provide direct service to Petco Park.

Pre-Concert:

• Green Line, Orange Line and UC San Diego Blue Line: MTS standard service on all lines.

Post-Concert:

• Green Line: 15-minute service until at least 45 minutes after the concert ends, with additional trips as needed. 15-minute service towards Santee will start with the 10:08 p.m. departure from Gaslamp Quarter Station (10:06 p.m. from 12th & Imperial Transit Center) with additional service as needed. The final trips to Santee from these two transit stations will depart at 11:36 p.m. and 11: 38 p.m.
• UC San Diego Blue Line: 15-minute service departing from 12th & Imperial Transit Center towards UTC will begin at 10:08 p.m. and be extended to 11:38 p.m. Similarly, 15-minute service towards San Ysidro will begin at 10:07 p.m. and end at 12:07 a.m., with extended service as needed.
• Orange Line: 15-minute service until at least 30 minutes after the concert ends, with additional service as needed. First trip eastbound will depart from the 12th & Imperial Transit Center at 10:26 p.m. and with a scheduled final trip at 11:56 p.m.

In order to provide the best experience, parade attendees and concert goers should follow these transit tips:

• Park & Ride: Fans are encouraged to utilize MTS’ free transit station parking to park their cars and hop on the Trolley. Parking lots are available along all three Trolley lines. Transfers from the Orange and UC San Diego Blue Line Trolleys to the Green Line can be made downtown at 12th & Imperial Transit Center or Santa Fe Depot.
• Get Your Fare Early: To avoid long ticket lines attendees should download the PRONTO app or use a PRONTO card and load $5 in advance of the event to cover a round-trip Adult fare ($3 for seniors with Senior PRONTO card). Riders must tap or scan their Trolley passes at a station validator before boarding.
• Youth Ride Free: All youth 5 years old and under ride free all day any day. No pass required. Kids ages 6-18-year-old can ride MTS free with the Youth Opportunity Pass program (must have a valid Youth PRONTO card or Youth app account).
