MTS Transit Guide to Pride Parade & Festival

San Diego- Over 300,000 people are expected to attend this weekend’s Pride Parade and Festival. The Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is encouraging attendees to ride MTS to Pride to avoid closed streets, limited parking and traffic congestion. MTS will offer frequent service to the Free Pride Shuttle and Festival on Rapid 215 and Route 7, while several other bus routes will be on detour due to the parade route.

Getting to the Event:

Rapid 215 and Route 7 are great options to get to all the Pride festivities:

• Route 7 and 215 will have direct service to the start of the parade on University and Park Blvd.
• Service every 15 minutes or better throughout most of the day on both routes
• Riders can also take the Trolley to City College and then catch Route 7 or 215 to the free Pride Shuttle service at Park Blvd. and Presidents Way. (Northbound stop: Park Blvd. and Naval Hospital. Southbound Stop: Park Blvd. and President’s Way) 
• Last bus leaves downtown/Hillcrest (both directions) after midnight

Buying your fare:

• Riders are encouraged to use their PRONTO app to travel to the event. Riders can add money to their PRONTO card or app and travel for as little as $5 round-trip.
• Discounted fares are available for senior riders.
• Youth with a registered PRONTO card or app account can also ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass.

Detours:

Due to closed streets for the parade, Routes 1, 3, 10, 11 and 120 will be detoured on Saturday, July 16, 2022 until 4 p.m. Bus stops on University Ave. between 1st Ave and Park Blvd. in both directions will be temporarily discontinued, including the bus stop on 5th at University.
