Record Ridership....Take Two!

We may sound like a broken record, but....for the second year in a row MTS set a new record for number of riders! Between July 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015, about 97 million riders took the Trolley or bus. This beat our previous record of 95 million riders.

Back-to-back years of record ridership demonstrate that more people than ever before use transit as an alternative to driving. We’ve been working hard to maximize the system for our riders, including:

• Adding low-floor Trolley cars on the Orange, Green and Blue Lines
• Realigning the Green Line to provide service all the way to Downtown San Diego
• Reconfiguring bus routes to improve efficiency
• Passenger counting technology upgrades
• Serving special events such as Comic-Con, Supercross and San Diego Chargers games
