Why:                     San Diegans will soon get a chance to ride brand new Trolley cars, as the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will unveil the next generation of vehicles.

The public will have an opportunity to board the new model at an “open house” on Wednesday, April 17 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.  The new vehicles will be in service beginning Saturday, April 20.

Manufactured in California by Siemens, the Trolley cars have several new features intended to improve the passenger experience, including a redesigned middle section to improve passenger flow and provide greater wheelchair accessibility, vinyl-covered seating rather than the cloth used in previous models, improved sightlines for security and relocated equipment to facilitate access by technicians.

MTS has been steadily receiving new Siemens S700 light rail vehicles (LRVs) as part of an order of 45 new Trolley cars placed in 2016.
