Trolley’s Stadium Station Opening for Aztecs Scrimmage at Snapdragon Stadium

Station drops off fans at the doorstep of Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego - For the first time in two years, the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) is reopening the Stadium Trolley Station for one day, allowing fans to take transit to the Aztecs scrimmage at the all-new Snapdragon Stadium.  On Saturday, August 20, thousands of Aztec season ticket holders will be able to take the Green Line Trolley to the Stadium Station for the first-ever public event held at the venue. The Trolley’s Green Line provides direct, frequent service to the doorstep of Snapdragon Stadium. 

Stadium Trolley Station reopening schedule:

• On Saturday, August 20, the Green Line will serve the Stadium Station every 15-minute in both directions throughout most of the day, from before 5 a.m. to after midnight.
• The stadium will open to fans at 1 p.m. Riders are asked to plan their travel accordingly.
• After the scrimmage, the Stadium Station will be closed from Monday, August 21 through Friday, September 2.
• The Stadium Station will reopen permanently on Saturday, September 3 for the Aztecs’ first home game against the University of Arizona.

Free Park & Ride Lots:

Fans are encouraged to use MTS’ free park & ride lots throughout the Trolley system, then take the Green Line directly to the Stadium. Fans can use the recommended stations below, or view the full list of Park & Ride on the MTS website.

• Old Town Transit Center (Green Line, UC San Diego Blue Line) 412 free spots
• Hazard Center (Green Line – Lower Level only) 1,500 free spots
• El Cajon Transit Center (Green Line) 469 free spots
• Morena/Linda Vista (Green Line) 199 free spots
• 70th Street (Green Line) 125 Free spots
• Balboa Avenue (UC San Diego Blue Line transfer to Green Line at Old Town) 227 free spots
• Tecolote Road (UC San Diego Blue Line transfer to Green Line at Old Town) 279 free spots
• Nobel Drive (UC San Diego Blue Line transfer to Green Line at Old Town) 289 free spots
• Bayfront/E Street Station (UC San Diego Blue Line transfer to Green Line at Old Town) 267 free spots

In addition, SDSU will offer paid parking on the main campus for $20, which includes round-trip Trolley passes for up to four fans between the main SDSU campus and Stadium Station. 

Buying your fare:

• Riders are encouraged to use their PRONTO app to travel to the stadium. Riders can add money to their PRONTO card or app and travel for as little as $5 round-trip.
• Discounted fares are available for senior riders.
• Youth with a registered PRONTO card or app account can also ride free with the Youth Opportunity Pass.
• Family Weekends: Up to two kids 12 and under who don’t have a Youth account yet, can ride Trolley for free with any paying adult.
