Trolley to Playoffs: San Diego Padres and The Wave FC Games this Weekend

Direct Trolley service to PETCO Park and Snapdragon

San Diego: It’s playoff season in San Diego this weekend! A highly anticipated playoff series will continue this Friday, October 14, and Saturday, October 15 as the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers go head-to-head at PETCO Park for their third and fourth games of the National League Division Series. Then, on Sunday, October 16, the San Diego Wave Fútbol Club will play their first playoff game against the Chicago Red Stars at Snapdragon Stadium.  PETCO Park and Snapdragon Stadium are expected to be at full capacity, and the Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will provide extra Trolley service on all three Trolley lines to accommodate crowds.

Getting to PETCO for Padres vs Dodgers:

Padres Discount Promo: MTS will offer a special discounted 2-Day Padres Pass for Friday and Saturday.

• Fans heading to Downtown can get all-day transit service Friday and Saturday for $8 (a $12 value / 33% discount). The pass is now available through the PRONTO app, online at RidePRONTO.com, and will be available at ticket machines starting Friday.

Friday game starts at 5:37 p.m. and Saturday game starts at 6:37 p.m.

All three MTS Trolley lines provide direct access to PETCO Park. Fans can use the 12th & Imperial Transit Center, Gaslamp Quarter Station for convenient access to the game. People heading to downtown for the festivities should expect limited parking and added traffic. Free Park & Ride lots along Trolley stations offer an easy and stress-free game day commute.

Pre-Event:

• UC San Diego Blue Line: 7.5-minute service between San Ysidro and 12th & Imperial (Friday only); 15-minute service between UTC and 12th & Imperial and between San Ysidro and 12th & Imperial on Saturday.
• Green and Orange Lines will run 15-minute service.

Post-Event: 

• UC San Diego Blue Line: 15-minute service will be extended north to UTC after the game. 15-minute service to San Ysidro until 12:07 a.m on Friday and 11:37pm on Saturday., with additional trips as needed and available.
• Orange Line: 15-minute service after the game with additional service as needed until 11:56 p.m.
• Green Line: 15-minute service (to SDSU) until 11:36pm, with additional service as needed. Last trips to Santee will depart at 10:36 p.m. on Friday and 11:21 p.m. on Saturday.

Getting to Snapdragon for the Wave vs Red Stars (Sunday, October 16), game begins at 7 p.m.: 

It’s the San Diego Wave’s first playoff game at Snapdragon Stadium. The Green Line Trolley will provide direct service to and from the stadium every 15 minutes or better. Before the game, MTS will operate normal Trolley service and increase frequency after the game. 

Post-Event

• UC San Diego Blue Line and Orange Line: 30-minute service
• Green Line: Extended 30-minute service, with additional shuttle service as needed.

Park & Ride Lots:

Fans are able to park for free at dozens of MTS transit centers, and ride the Trolley to the doorstep of both stadiums. Fans should travel early with sellout crowds expected. Prime locations to park:

• Fans can also load money to a PRONTO Card in advance online at RidePRONTO.com, or at any Trolley ticket machine. MTS does not recommend fans buy one-way paper tickets, due to crowding post game at ticket machines for return-trips. Whenever possible, load $5 to a PRONTO Card, which covers a round-trip. PRONTO cards are available at all ticket machines (one-time $2 fee).
