Wave FC Fans Kick Off Holiday Weekend with Trolley Rides to Snapdragon Stadium Friday

San Diego – Tens of thousands of soccer fans are expected to kick off Memorial Day weekend at Snapdragon Stadium as Wave FC hosts the Portland Thorns on Friday, May 26 at 7pm. The San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) will be running extra Trolley service to accommodate the large crowds. 

MTS’ Green Line Trolley provides direct service to Snapdragon Stadium, and will run every 15 minutes or better. Wave FC fans can skip the gridlock in Mission Valley by parking for free at an MTS park and ride and taking the Trolley to the match.

• Green line service will be running every 15 minutes in both directions leading up to game time.
• Post-game, MTS will run extra Trolley service, up to every 15 minutes in both directions, as needed until approximately 10 p.m.

Important Game Day Tips:

In order to provide the best fan experience, attendees should follow these transit tips:

• Park & Ride: Fans are encouraged to utilize MTS’ free transit station parking to park their cars and hop on the Trolley. Parking lots are available along all three Trolley lines. Transfers from the Orange and UC San Diego Blue Line Trolleys to the Green Line can be made downtown at 12th & Imperial Transit Center or Santa Fe Depot.
• Get Your Fare Early: To avoid long ticket lines pre-and post-game, fans should download the PRONTO app or use a PRONTO card and load $5 in advance of the game to cover a round-trip Adult fare ($3 for seniors with Senior PRONTO card). Fans must tap or scan their Trolley passes at a station validator before boarding; fares will be checked at the Stadium pre- and post-game.
• Youth Ride Free: All youth 5 years old and under ride free all day any day. No pass required. Kids ages 6-18-year-old can ride MTS free with the Youth Opportunity Pass program (must have a valid Youth PRONTO card or Youth app account).

Memorial Day Weekend Service

A work stoppage continues to impact multiple bus divisions for the Metropolitan Transit System due to ongoing negotiations between Transdev and its bus operators, which may disrupt bus service over Memorial Day weekend and possibly longer. Trolley service will not be impacted, and will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, May 29. MTS bus service not impacted by the work stoppage will also operate on a Sunday schedule, and MTS Information and Trip Planning will be open modified hours of 8am-5pm of Monday, May 29.  The PRONTO Support Center, Customer Service, the Transit Store, and MTS Administration offices will be closed on Memorial Day.  For a list of impacted bus routes, visit the MTS Alerts & Detours webpage.
