Pilot away! The MTS Board approved a zero-emission bus pilot and directed staff to complete a plan for implementation. MTS staff will return to the Board with a recommended implementation plan. MTS Bus already has one of the cleanest bus fleets in the country through its use of CNG, biogas and propane fuel, but is always looking to do more. Battery electric buses and fuel cell/hydrogen buses are the two most common types of zero emissions buses and can add to regional goals to improve air quality. The earliest the pilot buses could take to the streets is in 2019.
