New Artics Headed South

Articulated buses will soon be operating in the South Bay for the first time. Ten 60-foot articulated buses are being built now to replace some of the South Bay division’s aging 40-foot and 32-foot buses. The first bus arrived in late August. Additionally, the first of 17 new 60-foot buses will arrive in mid-December for Rapid 225. The entire order will be fulfilled in mid-April 2018. Rapid 225 service is expected to begin in 2018. It will operate from the new Otay Mesa Transit Center to downtown San Diego, streamlining connections to and from employment and activity centers while serving the growing population centers in eastern Chula Vista.
